The bread selection and coffee is probably the best we had in Montreal!!

Cafe Martin is such a great place. You can work peacfully, the enviroment is calm and the employees are very nice. The decor is fantastic and the coffee is to die for. The pastries are delicious as well as the sandwiches. It also isn't expensive they give fair prices.

TERRIBLE. I've never written a review, and the owner was so rude I had to do this. I was in the middle of a meeting and she asked me to either order more food or leave because it was lunch time and people wanted the seat. Looking around, there were two empty tables. Told me people left her cafe because I was taking up a seat. SO EMBARRASSED, as I was the one who recommended the spot for my meeting. Never been asked to leave in my life. NEGATIVE STARS. She's greedy AND rude. On a positive note, the two guys working in the morning were quite friendly.

A perfect, quiet Cafe. Exactly what I needed this morning. Great coffee, great service, great atmosphere.

Nice decor, but owner Eva was quite rude for asking us to leave if we don't order anything else. We were there for four hours, had meetings after meetings, we tend to lose track of time when we are in the zone. Could have said in a nicer way if we wanted anything else, but put blame on us for losing their 'lunch crowd' customers. Never going back after this incident. On a side note, there is only one vegetarian sandwich (out of 10 items) and it's not impressive.

I like the space and the proximity to my work; it's great for meetings... However, I can't understand why I can't run a tab and pay at the end. I met someone here today and arrived early. I'm hungry and wanted to order food, but I also want to offer my meeting partner their lunch when they arrive. I asked if I could run a tab and pay it at the end. I even offered to leave my credit card as assurance of payment..... I was told it was an impossibility. There's 5 people in here, and the 3 staff members aren't willing to organize a running bill for me to pay at the end? Computer limitations or not, it's certainly not 'impossible'. It's a really small detail but at the end of the day, isn't the primary product of the food and beverage industry 'service'? The sad part is even though it's a nice place I'm probably unlikely to come back as a result for meetings as a result. :-/

Bordering Blvd saint Laurent corner Ontario street..excellent location. Outside veranda during summer and early warm spring. Inside pleasantly decorated.reasonable prices.counter service.summer busier than wintery days.a stop over is a must if you are in proximity.voila!

This space is really nice, it has a vintage atmosphere and it's a nice addition to this block. However, their coffee is not the best if you're a fan of espresso.

We passed by and had two different smoothies in a sunny day. It's a quiet place with vintage decor. Good for work or short break. Smoothies were ok and not too sweet. I thought it's a healthy flavor.

The service was good. My chai latte tasted like it was made from mix, and wasn't very good. My wife liked her iced coffee.

Had an absolutely great latte the first time I went then an only so-so one the second time. I like the lids they have for the to-go coffees — they actually enhance the aroma and the texture in my experience.

I love this little café that I discovered today. The food was simple, good, and moderately priced. The barista is friendly and the decor is tasteful and relaxing. This will definitely be one of my favorite little treasures in montreal.

Really nice and quiet cafe, not too bustling like some others. Espresso was wonderful and the almond croissant was the best I've ever had (and I'm an almond croissant connoisseur.)

I live within a 5 minute walk and have been meaning to stop in to try the place out for several months now. The decor is nice, but the service wasn't at all friendly. Also, it was a warm day but they didn't have the air conditioning on, so it was uncomfortably hot inside to the point I just wanted to hurry up, drink my coffee and get out of there - not exactly the experience I was looking for. Unfortunately, it wasn't the little gem I was hoping to find so I don't see myself going back.

Review a bit overdue : was in the area and decided to give it a try. Although I found the service I received from the server was quite good as well as the coffee - the croissants my friend and I had were terrible. I was not impressed about the cleanliness of the establishment either. Next time I'll try somewhere else!

Not much when it comes to food, but very quaint and quiet place. Very good croissants. I'm not a coffee drinker, but my friends are and they said it was decent. A pretty chill place.

Cute and somewhat eclectic café with great coffee. There's plenty of room inside and some nice decking in front for outdoor dining. The sandwiches were reasonable and the sweets were great.

Friendly service in both French and English, great coffee and a lovely shaded patio out front to wile away the morning hours. Highly recommended.

We were looking for a quiet cafe with a cool atmosphere to work on our Blog and we decided to go up St Laurent Street in Montreal in order to get to Plateau. As we climbed up St Laurent Street between Ontario and Sherbrooke Street, well up the left side we finally noticed the Cafe Martin and decided to go in and we were surprised by the decor, good service, a very yummy and very quiet cafe to work, almost an Oasis in the middle of the city. They have a cozy ambience to work, study and have a great coffee at the same time and if you prefer to be outside, they have a small summer patio set up.Eli: 5 / Serge: 5Recommended: Totally, we love it and will for sure be going back more often.

It's a beautiful quaint place to sit and work, or have a casual meeting. I'd ordered a végé sandwich with a chai latte, which were filling and tasted just perfect. And for the value, it wasn't expensive at all!

This is one of the most discreet places to have a good cup of coffee. You can actually have a conversation instead of being bombarded with loud supposedly cool music and the baristas are efficient and humble. They don't take themselves as demigods making you a favor by preparing a cup of coffee.
